After a National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) approved vote on September 25, 2018, members of $9 million Fallon County Federal Credit Union (FCFCU), located in Baker, MT, voted in favor of merging with Circle-based $71 million McCone County Federal Credit Union (MCFCU). The merger became effective on October 1, 2018, however FCFCU members will not see immediate changes until early 2019. MCFCU will bring many new service offerings to FCFCU members, including competitive loan and share rates, additional deposit products, agricultural and commercial lending expertise, a mobile app, remote deposit capture, and free online bill pay. Expanding their member base allows the credit union to leverage more of the latest technology and services to benefit new and existing members. “The Board of Directors and the current staff of MCFCU are excited to move forward with merging FCFCU in to our membership,” said President/CEO of MCFCU, Emily Guldborg. “We welcome the opportunity to expand the Credit Union mission throughout eastern Montana.  We can’t wait to share all of the great financial offerings and modern financial technology that we have with the residents of Fallon County.” To celebrate, MCFCU is donating $5,000 to initiatives that benefit youth in Circle and Baker. $2,500 will go to the Circle Cinema’s efforts to bring movies back to the town on the big screen, and $2,500 will be donated to the Baker Community Center, which offers youth activities to the young residents of the town. This merger also brings exciting job growth in both Circle and Baker, as all FCFCU employees have been hired by MCFCU and will work in the Baker, MT branchFuture positions are also being planned for in both locations. MCFCU will continue to serve residents of McCone, Fallon, Garfield, Dawson, Richland, Roosevelt, Valley, Phillips, Petroleum, Rosebud, Custer, Prairie and Wibaux Counties in eastern Montana.
